Pink: the Truth about Love Tour

When I heard Pink was kicking off her tour in Phoenix, I told Sweetheart that I would love to see her in concert.  The day the tickets went on sale I came home and found two tickets sitting on the dining room table.  I was beyond excited!  That was in October of last year.   Since the concert was the day before Valentine's day, Sweetheart made sure to tell me that the tickets were my Valentine's day gift.  Ha!

So on Wednesday, the day before Valentine's Day, we went to see Pink kick off her Truth About Love tour.
Her performance was absolutely phenomenal!

I took some pictures with my iphone but it was too hard to get good pictures because she never stood still and the bright lights interfered with the flash.

She opened with "Raise Your Glass" while suspended in air and upside down most of the song!

She had numerous costume changes.  Like lots of them.
She joked that in 2002 she kicked off her Missundaztood concert in Phoenix and had a total of two costumes changes the entire show:  a red and black pair of dickies.

She's come a long way indeed:

She spent the majority of the concert in the air:

This is my Sweetheart with me at the concert.  He was such a trooper to go with me.
He was outnumbered by women at the venue.  Most with a "chick-power" way about them.  That might be why he has a crazy look about him in the picture.  I'm just saying...

During the concert Sweetheart ran off and bought me some souvenirs:

An autographed picture of Pink (which I love)!

And a Pink T-shirt -- which I also love!

It was the most amazing concert I had been too.
She is an amazing performer and such a class act!

Red Hearts and Company

I don't exactly know why, but I always get excited about Valentine's Day.  Many say it's a sensational holiday created by the greeting card business.  I know many people who refuse to celebrate the day because of it.   Personally, I enjoy the day.  So, this weekend I pulled out my Valentine's day decor.   Not a whole lot but a few subtle touches here and there are fun!

This is my "pretend" mantel that I've mentioned many times (humor me).  Red and white tea light holders shaped as hearts (that I got at Target years ago) line the shelf:

This heart ornament looks lovely hanging from the white candles:

Here's my candy dish sans the candy because Sweetheart and I are off of sugar at the moment:

The entrance way table always gets decked out with holiday trimmings:

Since I had to hang the heart wreath with twine (for lack of a better option), I decided to add the twine to the red candles to tie it together:

These red large tea light holders and large tea lights are from Ikea.  Love them:

And my entrance way magnet board got the VD treatment too.  I found some felt hearts in the dollar section of Joanne's so I attached some magnets to them and added them to the board.  The "happy valentine's day" heart is an ornament that I got at Joanne's also.  I fell in love with the "M" and "Y" when I saw them at Joanne's:

And my FAVORITE plate has my Sweetheart's name on it :)

The shelf in the kitchen also got changed out.  The subway art is from last year's decor.  I added the hurricane tea light holders and a white candle that I added a chalkboard label to (because I am completely obsessed with them) with an "I love you" message:

Sweetheart bought my Valentine's Day gift for me month's ago.  We are going to the Pink concert on February 13th.  I am SO excited!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Heart Wreath

I bought it, I didn't craft it. I ran into Joanne's this afternoon with the intention of buying some more garland and some ribbon to make a wreath for the front door. Laziness soon took over as I walked past the 40% off sign in the Valentine's Day section. I decided to buy the already decorated vine wreath instead.

I found a new spot for my beaded heart frame that I made last weekend. I think it looks a lot better here:

I added some berries to the glass vase that I embellished with jute string last summer:

My Sweetheart and I had a great weekend. We planted 8 rose bushes in the backyard. I can't wait for them to mature and bloom; it's going to be so beautiful back there!

We also went on a date night on Saturday night. We had diner at The Secret Garden which is a new restaurant in our neighborhood:

It was delicious! We sat in the outdoor patio right next to the fireplace. It was a gorgeous night. The ambiance was amazing, as was the company. We had a beautiful night!

A touch of Valentine's Day

I wanted to keep it simple. I also wanted to try my hand at crafting up a few projects that I saw online. I think my attempts were a bit of a bust, but a good learning experience nonetheless. I think if I had more time and I was a little more patient I would yield a better end result. Still, I was pleased with what I created.

To start, I added a red heart to the candle on the entrance way table for a subtle touch:

This was my first project. I used the frame that I made for my Halloween decor, here. My thought when I first made it was that I could change it out for every holiday. I have an idea for Easter already. This project was not as exciting or elaborate as it could have been. I had limited supplies on hand and I didn't feel like venturing out. I think I need to replace the I and U so that it stands out more. I was going to use black letters but my Sweetheart says black is not used at Valentine's day. I love black.....

This was project number two. I put some red glitter on a small wooden heart and framed it. I used the same scrapbook paper in the background as project number one. It's okay. It looks way cuter in person:

This was project number three and the most successful. I glued red glass beads to a wooden heart and framed it. I love it. This too looks much better in person:

My plan is to use this frame for different holidays. Like an egg for Easter, a flag for the 4th of July, etc:

I love glitter and I have plenty of it! I used pink glitter on a wooden heart and pasted it to my blackboard frame:

A candy dish filled with dark chocolate Dove candies is a must:

I love this plate because it says "Sweetheart":

And last but certainly not least, my Valentine bear and some dark chocolate Hersey's kisses:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day

There are SO MANY awesome Valentine's Day projects that I've run into online! I am super excited to start two new projects. For now, I wrote a special note on my chalkboard frame for My Sweetheart to kick off my Valentine Day decor!
