A Little Red, White & Blue

I (finally) had a chance to pull out my 4th of July decor this weekend.  Not a lot, just enough to put us in the mood.  :)

I don't remember where I got the Uncle Sam figurines but I love them.  I placed one on shelf in the kitchen along with some 4th of July subway art that I printed years ago:

This is the entrance way table.  I bought the 4th of July themed tea lights on clearance at Joanne's.  The clerk told me they are too pretty to burn.  I have to agree -- I won't light them.  They are just too adorable:

It's possible I went overboard with the Red, White and Blue.  I found this in my 4th of July bin.  I'm certain I bought it on clearance years ago.  I don't think I've ever put it out before.  When Sweetheart saw it, he said it looked very "picnic":

Here's some more Uncle Sams:
This is a picture of Me and Sweetheart in San Francisco.  Alcatraz is in the background; it was a very cold and windy day!

I took these photos early this morning when there was plenty of sunlight coming in.  I couldn't use the flash because there was too much light in the house, yet the pictures look dull. ?

Looking forward to celebrating Independence Day with Sweetheart!

30 Day Challenge - Day 5

Day Five is complete.  I do not really have a whole lot to say about today.  My work challenge and my personal challenge are complete.  I feel great about overcoming small speed bumps that could very well have influenced my result in a negative way.  I'm going strong.

After dinner (actually during dinner), Sweetheart and I watched The Next Food Network star.  I am so drawn to competition shows; I love them!  And this one is getting really good!  After that, Sweetheart asked me if I wanted to watch a movie and I had to decline.  If I had watched the movie, I would not have had time to get on the treadmill.  Fortunately I have a very understanding and supportive Sweetheart -- he got up and went into his office to work on the computer so I could take over the living room.  Oh, did I mention I moved the treadmill into the living room during this challenge?  After all, a big park of being successful is planning, preparation and utilizing all resources, yes?

Today I watched episode two of Drop Dead Diva.  See Grievous in the background?  Always barking at something or someone out front.  And remember Mikey, my anniversary present from Sweetheart?  He's sitting on the couch (bottom left corner), ha!.  The ottoman that appears to be sitting in the walkway?  Naboo did that, she was sitting on it and heard something outside and as she jumped off of it, it propelled forward. No, I'm not being a drama queen, the ottoman literally flies across the room every time she does that.....

That's my favorite water bottle!

Day five and going strong

I will leave you with photos of our very own little firework show.  Remember those fireworks that Sweetheart brought home?  We lit them up last night and had a blast!  It was impossible to capture the brilliant colors and the actual "ooh-ahh" affect that those little fireworks actually had, but here's my best shot:

4th of July, part II

Happy INdenpence day! Old Glory is waving today on a very hot day in Phoenix, Arizona. Later, very much later, when the sun goes down we will sit in the back yard and watch the firework display from Chase Field, home of the Az Diamondbacks.

We spent today relaxing and enjoying the day off. We cooked some brawts on the grill and watched a flick on TV.

I went by JoAnn's on Friday and found their 4th of July at 70% off. I found this cute Uncle Sam Nutcracker:

This cool floor mat for the front door:

And a three bell door hanger that I added to my wreath on the front door:

Happy Independence Day

and God Bless America!

4th of July, part I

Can you believe I forgot about my 4th of July decor? What was I thinking???! My Sweetheart asked me today if I had planned on decorating for the 4th of July. I said "of course I am, I'll do it next month". Then he said "4th of July is next week....". YIKES!!!

I asked him to pull my 4th of July bin down STAT!!!

I gave this holiday decor about 20 minutes of my time (I was on a tight schedule today)...

The front door wreath:

Here's the entrance way table. Very simple. I have a red, white and blue table runner, some red, white and blue candles and ol' Uncle Sam:

Here's that cute table runner that I got on clearance at Kohl's about 5 years ago:
These cute tea light holders are from the dollar section at Target:

I found these stars at Target on clearance last year. They appear to be doorknobs hangers but they are metal and made too much noise on the doorknobs so I thought they would look pretty good here:

My Sweetheart agreed; they look really good hanging on these candles:

The Declaration of Independence, Uncle Sam and a red, white and blue candle:

A bucket of red, white and blue "dynamite" candles and another little Uncle Sam:

I can't remember where I got these Uncle Sam figures but they sure are cute!:

Old Glory and a blue tea light holder:

Even the Ariel Assault got involved:

That's what I have so far, more pics to post soon!
